What are Conflict Diamonds, Blood Diamonds, and how can I be sure you don't sell them?

Conflict diamonds, sometimes called blood diamonds, are diamonds sold by rebel and terrorist groups most prevalent in central and West African nations. TheGemBank is a proud believer in the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS), and can guarantee that the company only deals with 100% conflict-free diamonds.

Will I receive the GIA certificate with my diamonds and/or jewellery?

All of our certified gemstones and jewellery will arrive with their certificates in your packaging.

Do you have stones that don't appear online?

Yes. We are constantly getting in new stones although it takes a few days to photograph and upload them to our website. Please feel free to ask us if you don’t find what you’re looking for online.

I found a stone on your website that I like. Is it available?

In general all the stones that appear on the website with a price are available within one of our worldwide offices. Please feel free to ask us about any stone you see on our site so we may check on its availability. If it is not available, we may have a similar stone to offer you!

What does In-House Grading mean?

In-House grading refers to stones that have been graded by our in-house team and are not accompanied by a recognised laboratory report.

Generally speaking, in-house graded stones are usually lower priced stones in order to keep the cost of the stone for our customers as low as possible. There’s an option to request a certificate for these stones at an additional cost. Please contact us for more information.

What are Conflict Diamonds, Blood Diamonds, and how can I be sure you don't sell them?

Conflict-Free Diamonds – We are as particular about WHERE our gemstones come from as we are about their quality. Our Diamonds have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict, and are in compliance with relevant United Nations Resolutions.

Are your stones natural, or are they treated or enhanced in any way?

Most of the gemstones on the market today have gone through recognised, time-honoured treatments. Unless otherwise stated, all of the gemstones offered by TheGemBank have received some treatment. Rubies, Sapphires and Emeralds that are certified as showing no signs of treatment are rare. TheGemBank offers many Rubies, Sapphires and Emeralds that are certified as not treated. Most of the remainder of our gemstones have only received the minimum treatment to enhance their beauty and durability.

How do I measure my ring size?

Shipping

Once I make my final payment, can I request a specific day for delivery to ensure someone is home?

Depending in what country your delivery is located, customs may hold your delivery longer than others. Therefore, while we can approximate within a few days on which day your shipment will be delivered, we cannot promise an EXACT date.

Do you ship worldwide?

TheGemBank reserves the right to delay, pending investigation, or refuse to ship any International order that it determines may be fraudulent. Due to high risk of fraud on International shipments, TheGemBank will not currently ship to the following countries:

The above list of countries is not exhaustive and is subject to change at any time, at our sole discretion. We also reserve the right to refuse shipments to countries that we may have shipped to previously, but which, due to an increase in insurance claims, fraudulent credit card transactions or that country’s revised trade restrictions or import practices, have become a problem for us to ship to.
Depending upon which country we are shipping to, the total cost of your order, including all Duties and Taxes, may increase beyond the original cost quoted. It is the responsibility of each customer to pay all import tariffs, brokerage fees and any other costs related to delivering the product(s) to you. These costs are always passed along to you. In the event you decide you do not want the gemstones, after they’ve ordered, but prior to delivery, we urge you NOT to refuse delivery. If you refuse delivery, you agree to be responsible for all return freight. Accept all deliveries and we will advise you of the proper procedure for returns.
We advise you to check your country’s rules for the import of diamonds and gemstones, TheGemBank takes no responsibility for providing individual information for the rules of any particular country it may be asked to ship to.

Will I be liable for my diamond or jewelry while it is being shipped?

No. TheGemBank is responsible for your purchase until you sign for the package at the delivery point.

How do you ship stones and jewellery?

We ship via FedEx or Malca-Amit – a diamond and jewellery courier.

I'm not home during the day to receive my shipment. Can I get it delivered to my work address?

We are happy to ship to any address you choose so long as there is someone there to sign for and accept the package.

May Tax and/or VAT apply to my order?

Yes, Tax and/or VAT may apply to your order. TheGemBank will not be responsible for any duties, VAT, taxes or surcharges levied by the customers country.

We recommend that you consult with your local tax official to see what import duties and/or VAT you are required to pay in your place of residence.

What are your shipping costs?

We ship worldwide absolutely FREE!

All prices listed on the website are USD.

What payment methods do you accept?

Payment options include bank wire transfer, PayPal and credit card payment though WorldPay. All payments made through Paypal are subject to Paypal’s Terms and Conditions of Use posted on their website. We are also able to take credit card payments over the telephone.

How long does it take for payment to arrive?

It generally takes between 2-3 business days.

Collection and Use of Information

Security

Correcting and Updating Personal Information

If there are changes to a user’s personally identifiable information (for example, address or zip code), or if a user no longer desires TheGemBank’s service, the company will provide a way of correcting, updating or removing that user’s personal information from our database. This can usually be done at the member information page or by e-mailing Customer Support.

Jewellery Warranty and Service Policy

THEGEMBANK’S WARRANTY

TheGemBank is pleased to offer our customers with a one-year warranty on jewellery purchased through the company.

1. The jewellery warranty and service policy will remain available to each client who purchases from TheGemBank for a period of one year from the date of purchase. The offer is available only on all jewellery sold directly through the TheGemBank website, with the following conditions applicable:

1.1. The one year warranty applies from the date the customer receives the goods for the first time.

1.2. TheGemBank will cover the cost of repair on any piece of jewellery that is still under guarantee, for only defects resulting from normal wear, such as cleaning, rhodium plating, loose prongs, and missing side-stones.

1.3. The warranty does not cover re-sizing, nor does it cover extraordinary damage or wear, which will be determined upon inspection solely by a TheGemBank representative. For any questions regarding our re-sizing service, please see next section.

1.4. The warranty does not cover loss or theft of the jewellery in part or its entirety.

1.5. If a defect is discovered within the period of the warranty, the jewellery must be returned to TheGemBank for inspection. TheGemBank alone will determine if the defect is due to normal wear or extraordinary circumstances.

1.6. Any jewellery re-sized or altered in anyway by a 3rd party not under the ownership of TheGemBank, or without the authorisation of TheGemBank will forfeit the warranty.

1.7. The warranty will cover shipping costs and insurance from and to the customer, only if it is determined by TheGemBank that the jewellery is in fact defective within the bounds of the policy. (I.e. that it is defective within the bounds of normal wear and tear).

1.8. TheGemBank will re-reimburse the shipping and insurance costs incurred by the customer once the jewellery inspection is completed. TheGemBank alone will determine the best way for the jewellery to be returned to its offices and provide instructions to the customer accordingly. If the jewellery is returned in any other way other than the instructions given, TheGemBank will not be held liable for expenses, damage, or any loss incurred.

1.9. If it is determined that the jewellery has been damaged outside the bounds of the warranty, due to unusual or extreme wear or use, the customer will be held liable to pay for all repairs, as well as any shipping or insurance costs incurred.

1.10. Due to the nature of this type of jewellery, TheGemBank will not be liable for damage to any chains that break on pendants, necklaces, and bracelets. TheGemBank will not be held liable for damage to ear-backs, nose rings, or other body jewellery.

1.11. TheGemBank will report to the customer any necessary repair required prior to implementing the repairs. TheGemBank will be sure to inform the customer if the repair does or does not fall within the bounds of the warranty.

We accept no liability if a delivery is delayed because you did not give us the correct payment details. If it is not possible to obtain full payment for the goods from you, then we can refuse to process your order and/or suspend any further deliveries to you.   • You will become the owner of the goods you have ordered when they have been delivered to you. Once goods have been delivered to you they will be held at your own risk and we will not be liable for their loss or destruction.

  • Network Security

  • Commercial Advertising/Mass Mailings

  • Account Cancellation
    • To authenticate an account cancellation request, you must email the notice to info@theTheGemBank.com or mail the cancellation notice to The Gem Bank, 39 Greville Street, London EC1N 8PJ, ENGLAND. You must include your account email address, account name and account password
    • For security reasons, we cannot accept cancellation requests over the phone.

    • Customer agrees that it will protect, indemnify, save and hold TheGemBank harmless from any and all stipulations, liabilities, losses, expenses and claims, as well as reasonable attorney’s fees, assessed against TheGemBank, its partners, affiliates, agents, customers, officers, employees and administration that may arise or result from any service provided or performed or agreed to be performed or any product sold by its partners, affiliates, agents, customers, officers, employees, administration or assigns.

  • Choice of Law

  • Depending upon which country we are shipping to, the total cost of your order, including all Duties and Taxes, may increase beyond the original cost quoted. It is the responsibility of each customer to pay all import tariffs, brokerage fees and any other costs related to delivering the product(s) to you. These costs are always passed along to you. In the event you decide you do not want the gemstones, after they’ve ordered, but prior to delivery, we urge you NOT to refuse delivery. If you refuse delivery, you agree to be responsible for all return freight. Accept all deliveries and we will advise you of the proper procedure for returns.
  • We advise you to check your country’s rules for the import of diamonds and gemstones, TheGemBank takes no responsibility for providing individual information for the rules of any particular country it may be asked to ship to.
Shipping, Insurance and Liability

We ship worldwide on a daily basis. Depending on your location and the value of the item you purchase, your item will be sent via FedEx or United States Postal Service (USPS). All client details, including shipping addresses, must match the authorization information of the credit card used. If you would like your shipment sent to a non-confirmed address, you can arrange to add an “alternative confirmed address” with your credit card company. Please call us at 0207-099-3786 or email us if you have any questions regarding shipping. If paying by wire transfer we will ship anywhere you request. Signature is REQUIRED for all deliveries. Customers are responsible for all items after the package has been signed for.

All deliveries are sent to street addresses only. PO Boxes are not accepted as shipping destinations.
Saturday delivery is not available for international shipments.

International shipments may be subject to customs fees, import duties, taxes, and other charges. These additional charges required for customs clearance are the responsibility of the recipient. Please contact us to clarify what amount (if any) might be due for import duties in your country.

Returns Policy (No Questions asked 30 Day)

Please note our return policy varies depending on the item/s you are considering for purchase.

The following three item types are explained below:

  • Loose Sapphires, Rubies and Diamonds
  • Ready-Made Finished Jewellery
  • Custom Jewellery Orders

For Loose Gemstone and Finished Jewellery Orders:

We offer a 21 day inspection period for you to review your sapphire or finished jewellery item. The 21 day period begins when you sign for and receive your item from the shipping carrier. If you are not completely satisfied with your item, you can return it for a full refund. Returns after the 21 day inspection period can be returned for store credit, as long as the item you are returning is not damaged or worn from regular use. While you have possession of any item you are fully responsible for its value and care.

If you need an extended inspection period, special circumstances can be agreed upon; however, they must be done so prior to the shipment of your item. Please contact us at 0207-2423748 to make special arrangements for an extended inspection period.

Please note: Loose gemstones will not be accepted for a refund if they have been set, scratched, chipped, fractured, weigh differently or have been altered in any way. We strongly recommend that you do not set your gemstone with another jeweller until you fully intend to purchase it.

For Custom Orders, aka “Design Your Own Jewellery” Orders:

Our primary business is centred around manufacturing one-of-a-kind custom designed jewellery which our customers design and ask us to create for them. There are two primary costs that go into making a custom order and we have different policies on which can be returned:

  • The Centre Gemstone: The stone being used in the design can almost always be returned for a full refund within 14 days after receiving the item.
  • The Setting and Materials Used: The Setting that was made for the specific gemstone is not returnable for a few reasons. Custom made settings are created to fit the precise dimensions of the centre stone and the finger size of the client. Custom made orders are crafted to the specific taste and liking of the client, and unfortunately we cannot issue refunds on the setting component of the order as it is highly unlikely that another client will purchase the specific design and centre stone that was created. We WILL allow the centre stone to be returned for a refund within 14 days of receipt because the stone can still be used in countless other design options that our future customers can choose from. Should you request a custom setting to be manufactured for your stone selection, payment in full is required before production will begin.

There are situations where we will reserve the right to refuse a return on custom orders, such as if a setting style (bezel setting) poses risk to remove from the ring or if we are required to recut the centre stone for a special issue, such as altering the shape for various reasons to work in the setting design. In this case we will inform you in writing of this special circumstance.

We encourage our clients to preview the loose gemstone they are interested in before creating a custom order jewellery setting for that stone. To help our customers better imagine their custom jewellery pieces, we provide two complimentary computer rendered images of the setting. For a fee of £100 we can provide a wax model of the setting. The wax model is available to see the design in person before you place your order. The fee will be deducted from the final purchase price if the order proceeds. Refunds will be issued in the same method by which it was received, meaning the original form of payment via wire transfer, PayPal, or cash. In the event of a refund, approved refunds will reflect the amount of the transaction as mentioned on the invoice provided by TheGemBank. TheGemBank is not responsible for any additional fees or charges applied by the banks, any duties, VAT, taxes, or surcharges that may be levied by the customer’s country of importation, or any other parties throughout the process.

If TheGemBank chooses to authorise a refund after 30-days from the purchased date, 10% of the total cost will be deducted for any expenses paid. After 30 days from the point a loose diamond or piece of jewellery is reserved, if a customer neglects to complete the payment installations, TheGemBank reserves the right to cancel the reservation and return the fees paid, minus a $300.00 handling fee.

How to Return an Item

If you have purchased an item that you would like to return, you must contact us to confirm your intention. Do not send in a return unless you have contacted our office. All shipments will be refused and returned to sender if not authorised in advance.

Depending on the value of the item you are returning, you will be given special instructions on how to send in a return.

Items returned MUST be in the same new condition as they were when they were delivered to you. We will NOT accept damaged items. Please review our return policies before requesting to return an item.

A refund will be issued after we receive your return. Shipping costs cannot be refunded. If you paid by credit card, the charge will be credited back to your card. If you paid by cheque or wire transfer, a company cheque will be issued to the name on the account from which the purchase was made from.

In order to deter potential theft, please do not write any words on the package shipping label that may allude to the contents of the package (such as gems, sapphires, jewellery, etc.). Do not declare the exact nature of the contents you are sending. If required by customs or the shipping company, specify the item is an “Antique Sample” or “Rock Crystal Sample”.

The Haruni Business

In 1951, Elie Haruni together with his brothers Mat and Aaron started working out of London’s famous jewellery quarter in Hatton Garden. The Haruni Family
